Carer Gateway at the Cockburn Seniors Centre

Bring carer support closer to your community. Our Chung Wah Community Care (Chung Wah CC) team has been working hard to reach out to the community and promote the Carer Gateway services and support. Recently, we were invited to set up a booth at the "Over 55's Ageing Well" event held at the Cockburn Seniors Centre. This event provided information on healthy ageing for community members aged 55 or above.

Many people do not realise that they are caregivers. If you're caring for family members or friends with disability, mental conditions, chronic conditions, terminal illness, or a senior without any remuneration, you are actually a caregiver. Providing care is not an easy task, and it can be a challenging role. Therefore, caregivers also need to be cared for too.

At the event, our caring staff took the time to introduce and elaborate on the Carer Gateway program to the community members. Carer Gateway is a free Australian-wide government initiative to provide carers with emotional, social and other physical support. Chung Wah CC has joined Carer WA as their partner organisation to help provide assessment services for non-English speaking carers and help them obtain relevant information and support from Carer Gateway.
