Eastern Rabbit Meet Western Bunny

The fusion of Eastern and Western Easter celebrations was epic at the Chung Wah Community Care (Chung Wah CC) Community Hub. In the Chinese Zodiac, rabbits are the luckiest of the twelve animals. It symbolises mercy and elegance. The Year of the Rabbit is peaceful and calm. In the Western world, Easter holds significant meaning. It symbolises rebirth, livelihood, and prosperity.

Easter is an important holiday for Christianity. In the traditional Chinese Lunar calendar, Easter Sunday falls on the first Sunday of Spring Equinox. This story became popular in the United States in the 18th Century. The word Easter came from Eostre, the Goddess of Spring. The myth of Easter was Eostre saw a wounded bird. Realising that even if she healed it, it would not be able to fly again. As a result, she turned it into a rabbit, and it laid coloured eggs.

Senior consumers at the community hubs came together for some good wholesome craft session - decorating some Easter bunnies. Various creative artwork of cute bunnies' ears were decorated in their favourite colour. Upon completing their masterpieces, seniors begin their next favourite activity, taking joyful selfies and sharing them with friends. This simple and easy activity can stimulate the mind and creativity to prevent Alzheimer's disease. In addition, drawing can improve one's concentration and memory. It is an excellent way for consumers to stay socially connected to reduce their feelings of isolation.
